BEARING WALL REMOVAL EXAMPLE
The following pictures will provide you with a very good example of the correct procedure for removing a load bearing wall and installing a new support beam. This example shows a steel beam but the majority of the projects call for a wood MicroLamb.

This wall separated the kitchen from the dining room. Wall covering is removed

Two temporary walls are constructed before the wall is removed

Closeup on the left shows how the floor joists overlap the bearing wall

Old wall is removed ! 2"X6" board is bolted to the top of steel beam that will be used as a nailer

Steel beam is being installed - this is not a easy job !

Steel support post is installed and made plum

Bottom and top mounting support post anchor plates are secured

The new beam is now in and temporary wall is being removed.
